Do you ever feel like you’ve been scrolling for five minutes, only to look at the clock and realize an hour has passed? Or maybe you feel a bit "blah" after spending all afternoon on your phone?
This week, we are talking about Media Balance. This isn't about giving up your devices; it's about making sure your digital life fits into your "real" life in a way that makes you feel good.
What is Media Balance?
Media balance is the sweet spot where you use technology to learn, connect, and have fun, but you still have plenty of time for:
Sleep: Your brain needs 8–10 hours to recharge without notifications buzzing.
Movement: Getting outside or being active keeps your body healthy.
Focus: Doing homework or hobbies without "task-switching" every two minutes.
🚀 Small Changes, Big Results
Improving your digital well-being doesn't have to be hard. Try these three "Pro Moves":
The "Phone Bed": Pick a spot outside your bedroom for your phone to "sleep" at night. You’ll sleep better and wake up feeling more refreshed.
Turn Off "Ghost" Notifications: Go into your settings and turn off alerts for apps that aren't urgent. If it’s not a real person reaching out to you, you probably don't need a buzz in your pocket.
The 20-20-20 Rule: To prevent eye strain, every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.
Challenge of the Week
Try a "Device-Free Dinner." Challenge your family or friends to put all phones in a basket or another room during one meal this week. See if the conversation feels different when everyone is 100% present!
Your well-being is worth more than a "streak" or a "like." Take control of your time!
