Students across campus took part in the global movement, The Hour of Code.” The idea behind this movement is to have all students try one hour of coding and to push themselves to try something new. This year each grade level completed it’s own activities co-taught by their math teacher and either the librarian, Mrs. Kay, or campus Instructional Support Specialist, Mrs. Young. In 6th grade students worked on the iPads to complete the LightBot tutorial that took them through a series of challenges for the students to solve. 8th Graders completed a coding challenge on code.org’s website. Our 8th graders took their coding into the physical world by learning to program 1 inch robots called Ozobots. Teachers also got into coding by completing their own hour of code activity and proudly displaying their certificates.
